Hay
We provide the following varieties of grass hay and bale sizes. Please note weights and lengths are approximate to give a general idea, and will always vary.
Meadow
High in fibre and low calorie due to the different varieties of grass it contains, mainly soft stemmed native pasture grasses, but also plants such as dandelions and daisies.
Rye
Higher in calories and protein compared to meadow hay, nutrient dense and coarser and with longer stems and generally sweeter and greener – good for fussy eaters or animals needing to gain weight. Contains a lot of seed heads.
Timothy
High in fibre and low in calories/sugar and protein. Timothy grass is characterised by its distinctive tall coarse stems contains cylindrical seed heads. Generally stalky and good for digestion and does not contain a lot of leaf.

Haylage
Haylage comes wrapped in plastic stretch film. Haylage is available in the different grass varieties as listed under hay. Grass is cut earlier than hay for haylage, and not dried, providing a highly digestible and nutrient rich fermented feed with a high moisture content. We have not provided approximate weights for haylage as it varies considerably based on the moisture content.

Straw
Wheat
Breaks down faster than barley, is coarser with wider stalks. Can be used for feed and bedding.
Barley
Soft, durable and absorbent, often the most expensive. Good for bedding and fodder.
Oat
Soft and containing a high fibre content, popular as a feed supplement and absorbent enough to be used as bedding.
Oilseed rape
Cost effective absorbent straw that is used only for bedding.
