Bedrap

Abbott & Co’s Premium Own Brand Dust-Free Bedding

Bedrap

Bedrap is Abbott & Co’s own dust-free bedding solution, designed specifically for animals with respiratory issues and therefore used widely across equestrian yards, but is also suitable for livestock and domestic pets who can suffer from allergies or dust induced breathing issues. Formulated for performance and practicality, Bedrap helps you protect animal health, reduce labour time, and get more value from every bale.

What is Bedrap?

Bedrap is in its most basic form chopped oil seed rape straw. Oil seed rape straw is renowned as an excellent bedding solution for dust sensitive animals as it doesn’t produce much dust because its stem structure is waxy, fibrous, and naturally low in brittle chaff, meaning it doesn’t shatter into fine particles the way barley or wheat straw does.

Bedrap is a high‑quality, dust‑managed straw bedding product, processed and baled to strict Abbott & Co standards. Each bale is produced from chopped oil seed rape straw to produce:

  • Comfortable, highly absorbent bedding
  • Low dust levels to support respiratory health
  • Natural product
  • Consistent bale size and density stored in 100% biodegradable packaging for easy handling and stacking

Key benefits

  • Animal comfort: Soft, supportive bedding that encourages lying time and reduces pressure points, helping animals rest and recover properly.
  • Clean, dry housing: High absorbency helps keep pens/stables drier for longer, reducing odour, improving hygiene and supporting hoof and skin health.
  • Dust‑managed: Carefully processed to minimise dust and chaff, supporting better air quality in sheds and stables.
  • Labour efficiency: Easy‑to‑spread, free‑flowing material that speeds up bedding routines and makes daily mucking out more straightforward with less waste and smaller muck piles.
  • Cost effective: Competitively priced compared to similar bedding products and high absorbency rates result in a more efficient product.

Bedrap is suitable for both deep‑bedding systems and top‑up bedding, depending on your management style.

Handling, storage and use

  • Storage: Keep Bedrap bales in a dry, well‑ventilated building, off the ground and protected from rain and direct sunlight.
  • Handling: Designed for easy movement by hand or with mechanical assistance if required.
  • Application: Spread evenly to create a soft, level bed. Top up regularly in high‑traffic areas to maintain comfort and cleanliness.
